Kovalev to leave for personal reasons

UPDATE: Alex Kovalev will, in fact, play tonight against the Penguins, and leave for Russia after the game. Sorry for the confusion.

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, Alex Kovalev is flying out to Russia immediately because his mother-in-law has passed away. He will miss at least two games, including tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ryan Shannon will play in his absence.

Our condolences to Alex and his family during this time.

Condolences to the Kovalevs

And to his wife’s whole family.

As for tonight, let’s see what the F-F-S line can do. This is a big opportunity for Foligno.
