Silver Nuggets: Karlsson headlines abound, Shannon out and Donovan in

You know the drill: Some headlines from Ottawa Senators land, which may be updated with more as they come out.

  • We've known for a day or so that Filip Kuba would be back in for tonight's game against the Florida Panthers, but it looks like Ryan Shannon will take a seat in favour of Shean Donovan. Nothing against Shannon, but I'm glad SheanDon's back in. (Citizen)
  • And, of course, the prediction panel: I hope my losing streak ends with the Senators' ending, and I called 3-2 for Ottawa in OT (but would love a more resounding victory). (Citizen)
  • Anyone looking for clarification, turns out the reason Ottawa had a case for demoting Erik Karlsson to Binghamton was the fact that it won't use up a year of his entry-level deal. (Sun)
  • Although Karlsson reportedly took the news hard, Wayne Scanlan wants him to know he'll be better for it. (Citizen)
  • And even if the young Swede's not very excited about it, people down in Binghamton are pretty excited to see Karlsson in their lineup. (Press & Sun Bulletin)

Star-divide

  • And with news of Karlsson's freedom to play for Sweden in the World Junior Championships, some people are already hyping the Battle of the Prospects between him and Jared Cowen. (The 6th Sens)
  • I'm not sure how many more feel-good stories we'll read about Matt Carkner, but Winchester's local boy done good delivered his biggest news to his folks on their 36th anniversary. Aww... (Citizen)
  • Is anyone else as sick as I am of hearing about H1N1? If not, some NHL heinie coverage will help you get on your way. Apparently the Senators are doing all sorts of crap to fight an outbreak. (Citizen)
  • I want to congratulate Lee Kirby for realizing the folly of cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and auctioning off his hockey allegiance to the highest bidder on eBay. (Puck Daddy)
  • Down in Binghamton, the B-Sens dropped rookie camp phenom Keegan Dansereau to the ECHL's Elmira Jackals, and called Brandon Svendsen up. (Sharp on the Sens)

Hope to see Shannon back and performing at a 2008-09 level in a few games. Looking forward to seeing SheanDon fly out there again.

It’s between Shannon and Cheechoo at this point, in my opinion. I’m really glad Chum’s back in, though, and I’m sure his fourth-line mates are glad to have hum back, too.
