Game nine: Ottawa Senators v. Boston Bruins
Boston Bruins at Ottawa Senators, Oct 24, 2009 7:00 PM EDT
The Ottawa Senators are looking to get off to a stronger start than last game against the Boston Bruins, and they're probably going to have to. Even though the Bruins are 4-4-1 on the season so far (compared to Ottawa's 5-2-1 record), they won five of six meetings last season, so it's safe to say this won't be a cake-walk for the Senators.
Lineup for tonight's game should be just about the same as Thursday's, except with Brian Elliott starting in nets:
Whooooo! Hockey Night in Canada!
Darren's Take: The Senators have come back with a big win after all of their losses so far this season, and after a heartbreaking loss to the Predators in OT on Thursday, let's see if the team can rebound. The Bruins have a tendency to do well against the Sens, and were 5-1-0 in the season series for 08/09. The Sens obviously look to improve on that record. Jason Spezza has been due for a goal for, oh, eight games now, so let's see what he can manage tonight. Also, let's see if Alex Picard can put forward a better effort than the one that saw him miss the entire third period of the last game.

It’s hard to say who should sit instead. I think he likes having Shannon out there because Shannon can come in on Spezza’s line if Cheechoo falters (ala last game)

I can’t believe you think you can talk to me, BLOG WRITER, in that manner! You’re really letting this whole podcast thing go to your head!

I’m sorry, but I cannot accept sound reasoning as a counterargument to my rage. That’s just the way it is. If you don’t like it you can go to the Kontinental Blog Nation!
I’ve been telling him that! He’s missing out.

No idea
I don’t agree with it, either. Shannon has no points in five games, and I don’t think he’s been great. I’d take any number of people out to get SheanDon in, including Shannon and Cheechoo.

Made it in time tonight....
…if you guys don’t mind. It’s obvious that the Sens want to start much better than they did the other night, however that’s easier said than done. Elliott in net is not much of a problem for he is a very good back-up. Prediction: Spezza nets one and Fisher has a big game (3 points). And oh ya…Sens win!!!
It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!
I like that prediction
What do you think the score’ll be?

4-2 Sens
Sounds right to me.

I predicted 5-3
We’re on the same track, I like that.

no kidding. have you found a feed yet?

Great start. Too bad Thomas made that save early on Mr. Carrie Underwood. My prediction would’ve looked nice early on.

It's that easy, isn't it?
Like how we decided to come back last game?

Adventures with NHL.com headlines
“Ruutu suspended three games”
Reaction: aww shit, really? What now?
Reality: It’s Tuomo, not Jarkko.
Further note:
the Suspension comes because of a boarding incident that concussed Darcy Tucker
Should’ve got more….Tuomo has a history of this shit, hence he is now a Cane and not a Hawk.

I saw that
It’s hilarious how Tuomo gets a bad rap, too. People were talking about how he ‘has a reputation’, when really it’s his brother. Tuomo’s actually pretty clean, for the most part.

it was mediocre. weird time to fight- i think sens had good momentum.
Silver Seven: the Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators blogs.
Get along you two….this isn’t the time to fight.
After the game? Then it’s time to get it on.
At least that’s what happens on SCH after a game.

It's quiet in here.
this place needs Jeff to spark up some conversation.

Nothing happening in the game so far.
And thanks CBC for showing the ’nucks game instead of the Sens
That's what people in Toronto and Vancouver want
All fights, no goals…zero Stanley Cups ever.

I have to say, Leclaire-Elliott has been the best tandem Ottawa has ever had, even better than Hasek-Emery
Hasek?
He was great until February in 2006

I don’t have time to get into my Hasek sucks rant right now… It’ll have to wait until a future date. I hate him, though.
elsewhere, not in Ottawa.

You should've kept Gerber, Toronto!
You’d actually be better off!
All right, I'm heading off to a sports bar to watch the rest of the game
And then I’ve got a house party to crash. I’m pumped to read the comments tomorrow morning. Sens win 3-1. Book it.
I just made a trade in my fantasy pool:
I get Mike Cammalleri, Pascal Leclaire, Chris Mason for Patrick Marleau, Marty Turco
Good?
Really
Like I wanted to see Toews look all dumbied up again….GREAT!

anyone notice how much better the coach’s corner theme song is than the new HNIC theme?

I love the new HNIC theme
… sorry. What did Grapes say today? I’m watching 30 Rock for intermission.

Mostly how bad the Leafs penalty killing was. Looks like Beauchemin and Komosarek aren’t as good as Burkie thought they would be. Who knew?

nothing. they skipped talking to him between periods and then had that great comeback.

I finally realised that Michalek is the guy 1200 keep calling 'McCulloch'
I was getting really confused :(
before he came to the team, i was sure it was meh-hall-ick. but they keep pronouncing it mick-call-ick
Silver Seven: the Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators blogs.
no kidding. he’s been great. then again, spezza deserves 10 goals for his efforts, but we can’t have everything.

I can’t believe Michalek didn’t shoot. Seems like a mistake.

What the fuck?
The Sens lost in the shootout (or skills competition in my mind)! They were up 3-1 late in the 3rd? 2 seconds left and lose it? A point is a point but a lost opportunity to gain valuable points on a division foe.

You've got that right
Not pretty, but it’s over now. They’ve got to improve on it for next game.
