Game eight: Ottawa Senators v. Nashville Predators
Nashville Predators at Ottawa Senators, Oct 22, 2009 7:30 PM EDT
Finally, we've got another game. Here's Ottawa's lineup for tonight:
Darren's Take: This game marks the triumphant return of Peter Regin, who missed three games with a shoulder injury. He'll take to the ice against the only team with a power play that is worse than the Senators'. Hopefully, the Senators take advantage of playing an offensively-challenged team (that is missing key forward Jason Arnott) and give the Predators the same kind of warm welcome they gave to the Tampa Bay Lightning. A note of caution though: the Predators have historically done very, very well against Pascal Leclaire, who will be starting in net for the Sens.
Also, here's hoping a banged-up Jason Spezza and linemate Jonathan Cheechoo manage to get their first goals of the season to silence some of their critics.
Be sure to join along in the comments once the puck drops at 7:30pm!

I know who can come out for Kuba.

Picard looks beaten down, and well, he desrves it.
I hope CC keeps Leclaire in because none of this has been his fault.
Leclaire
After the first game, I thought Leclaire looked, well… rusty. But ever since, he’s been fantastic and some of his saves have been flat out amazing.
As for Picard, he does look like he could use a break to get things together again. But doesn’t the geek in you wish CC would make him captain, just for a day? No, that’s probably just me.
THEY’RE TOTAL JERKS! DOWN WITH THE SHARKS!

Cheechoo is playing on the 4th line, Shannon with Spezz and Michalek.

No doubt. They looked like a team with too much time to practice and not enough time at game speed. They looked so bad I’m surprised they didn’t play dodgeball at some point in the previous days.

Less bulk for pucks to deflect off you and into our own net.

they only have one move on the powerplay. pointment drifts into the middle, gives to alfie on the side boards down to spezza on the goaline and then……….outfront to the ghost of dany heatley. need some diversity out there on the pp.
except there was no buzz to begin with.

On the plus side, Karlsson looks better this game, although I missed the first 5 minutes.

i hate that the team in front of Leclaire has ruined such a great performance by Pazzy.

If Picard stays off the ice, the Predators can't score.
He’s key to their offence, by the sound of things.

when we don’t play like retards
Sens look like they’re out of gas. They better pick it up again.
Silver Seven: the Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators blogs.
How did Spezza keep control of that?
It’s like he stickhandled through a guy.
Must be that magical dark matter machine again.

What happened to Karlsson? I realize that the Sens usually take him out in the dying minutes when they’re winning, but since they are losing, you’d think they’d want a creative offensive defenseman (who’s having a very good night).

I can’t think of one time he’s made a blind, no-look pass and turned the puck over as a result. Not one.

The best part there was when Michalek checked a guy into the net to knock it off the moorings in case the puck was going in.
