Silver Nuggets: Schubert on Re-entry Waivers, Mike Fisher Not Skating at Practice

Here's another collection of Ottawa Senators related headlines from around the world wide web:

  • Update: Everyone (or at least the Globe & Mail) is talking about how Daniel Alfredsson is the longest-serving captain in the NHL. You may recall roughly two and a half months ago, when I (Peter) announced it with a heroic list of his top-ten moments. Just sayin'.
  • Update: Apparently, Ilya Zubov didn't ask for a trade, but was told by the Senators that he might get traded. This is his agent's story, at least. Something must have been lost in translation the first time around. (Sun)
  • Christoph Schubert was placed on re-entry waivers, where another team can pick him up for half his salary (with Ottawa paying the other half). So the question is... who wants to go halfsies on a Schubie? (Twitter)
  • According to Brent Wallace of TSN, Mike Fisher was not skating at practice today. Fisher apparently just needed some rest for some "bumps and bruises," and it's nothing serious. (Twitter)
  • Jesse Winchester took the ice for the first time since his injury. He's still not expected back for a couple of weeks. (Twitter)
  • Darren Dreger puts Erik Karlsson as #9 on his list of the top ten impact rookies this season (TSN)
  • Despite coach Cory Clouston stating that Pascal Leclaire is expected to start 60 games, Brian Elliott doesn't see himself as Leclaire's backup, but as his partner.  You know, the type of partner who plays one-third of the amount of games that Leclaire plays. (Senators)

  • The folks at Scarlett Ice chat about Leclaire, Ryan Shannon, and the Leafs. (Scarlett Ice)
  • Five For Smiting gives a Senators season preview the ol' college try. (Five For Smiting)
  • A betting website calls the Senators a good sleeper pick! (BetUs)
  • Goalie prospect Robin Lehner has a .921 save percentage and still isn't happy with the way he's playing. Gotta love this kid. (Sault Star)
  • The B-Sens have figured out their roster, and Brian Lee is ready to help out: "To work hard. Work hard, play well. Winning's good for everybody, so try to come down here and help the team win." (Sharp)
  • The Ottawa Citizen pumped out its Senators supplement today, meaning a whole host of Citizen links after the jump....
